Boss is one handsome boy who embodies the beautiful, forgiving nature of dogs. Boss endured cruel treatment at the hands of a human before being rescued by the Escondido Humane Society. But he doesn't appear to care about the left eye he once had ... life is fun again, and it's much better to just go out for walks and enjoy lots of attention. Boss is a work in progress: he is big, strong and enthusiastic, and he is learning how to walk nicely on a leash and sit for treats. He greets new human friends with joy, and he appears to be friendly toward other dogs, though he is still very excited when he sees them. A loving home with a cozy dog bed is just what the doctor ordered for our sweet Boss.Friday, February 26, 2010

Escondido Humane Society Pet of the Week
This week's Escondido Humane Society Pet of the Week is Missy. Here's what she wants you to know about her:Hi, I'm Missy, a 6-year-old female domestic shorthair mix (ID # 42951). I am very loving and have been known to seek out attention with a friendly meow and purr. I can be a little shy and cautious, so I just ask that you are patient and slow in our interactions when I'm first getting to know you. But don't let that discourage you ... I am very sweet and friendly, so I am definitely worth the effort of getting to know! I am available for adoption at the Escondido Humane Society, 3450 E. Valley Parkway. My $110 adoption fee includes spay, microchip, up-to-date vaccinations, wellness exam after adoption, bag of food, behavioral support and discounts at local pet supply, grooming and boarding partners. For information, call (760) 888-2247 or log on to http://www.escondidohumanesociety.org/.

Escondido Humane Society Pet of the Week
I am a 3-year-old neutered male pit bull mix (ID # 42533). I am a volunteer favorite because I am such a special dog – inside and out. I am patient and gentle and love nothing more than to sit on your lap and be loved. I'm pretty mellow for a young dog, but a good game of soccer is my favorite pastime. The volunteers at the shelter are currently working with we to teach me the 10 skills on the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test, and I am already a star pupil! My adoption comes with a full session of beginner obedience classes courtesy of Hidden Valley Obedience Club so I can continue my training with my new family. My $110 adoption fee includes neuter; microchip with lifetime registration; up-to-date vaccinations; licensing (Escondido, San Marcos and Poway areas only); veterinary exam at EHS; wellness exam after adoption; bag of food; discounts at local pet supply, grooming and boarding partners; and behavior support. For information, call (760) 888-2247 or log on to http://www.escondidohumanesociety.org/. The Escondido Humane Society Adoption Center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week.
