Community outreach

Community outreach is a large part of the Escondido Humane Society's mission. We hold adoption outreaches almost every Saturday each month, and even one during the week. September (and the end of August!) is already shaping up to be a great month for outreaches. Below is a rundown of what we have planned:

Aug. 24: Monthly dog adoption outreach at Petco Escondido, 1000 W. Valley Parkway. Meet EHS adoptable dogs, and visit with adoptable cats and bunnies who are available on-site, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Aug. 29: Rancho Bernardo Jamboree at Kahoots, 11965 Bernardo Plaza Drive. Meet our adoptable dogs, and be treated to music and barbecue!

Sept. 3: Meet foster dogs and dogs residing at EHS on the first Thursday of the month at Dogtopia of San Marcos, 925 W. San Marcos Blvd. Time TBA.

Sept. 5: Meet our adoptable dogs and learn about Escondido Humane Society programs at the Rancho Family YMCA Open House Celebration from noon to 3 p.m., 9410 Fairgrove Lane, San Diego.

Sept. 11-13: Meet some of our adoptable dogs and visit with cats who are available on-site during the PetsMart Adoption Event. Times TBA; 415 N. Escondido Blvd., Escondido

Sept. 12: Monthly outreach at Kahoots West, 334 W. El Norte Parkway, Escondido. Meet EHS adoptable dogs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sept. 26: Monthly dog adoption outreach at Petco Escondido, 1000 W. Valley Parkway. Meet EHS adoptable dogs, and visit with adoptable cats and bunnies who are available on-site, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Adopt a kitten for just $55 in August

It’s summertime, which means only one thing at the Escondido Humane Society: We are overflowing with kittens who need loving homes! To help our feline friends find their purr-fect forever homes, we are cutting their adoption fees to just $55 in August (fees are regularly $160). Adoption fee includes vaccinations, spay or neuter, microchip and vet exam.

Adult cats (6 months and up) also can be adopted for $55, which includes vaccinations, spay or neuter, microchip and vet exam.

Big Dogs Rock!

This Saturday is the third annual "Big Dogs Rock" event at Fiesta Island. During this special adoption event, you will meet some big dogs with big hearts - and maybe take home your new best friend! The event features big dogs only (50 pounds or more) and puppies that will eventually be big dogs. Several of our big dogs will be looking for homes at the event, including Guero (pictured at right) - unless he is adopted before then - so bring your own dogs to play on Fiesta Island, buy a raffle ticket, and maybe take home your new best friend!

Save the date for Tails at Twilight!

Join us at our 16th annual Tails at Twilight gala at the Orfila Vineyard and Winery on Oct. 17! Attendees will be treated to a silent auction, entertainment, dinner and much more. We are even inviting your canine companions to join the party!

This year's theme - "Fall in Love" - could not be more appropriate for the work we all do for animals in need. We provide loving care during their time with us, and we help them find a family who will give them the love they so deserve - love that they return tenfold. If you haven't joined us before, this is the year to accompany us as we celebrate making a difference in the lives of animals - and the many people who love them.
